Boring But Effective: Chicago Blackhawks 1, Columbus Blue Jackets 0

One of these days, sooner rather than later, the Columbus Blue Jackets will learn how to score. Hell, they had a few good chances against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, with only a couple of bad bounces off of the post keeping them off of the score sheet.

(I can’t even say they were terrible, because they really weren’t. Maybe losing Rick Nash was the best thing that could’ve happened to them?)

However, Corey Crawford put together a quietly good performance and did his job. No, it wasn’t the most exciting, but he did what he had to do. The defensive core — especially Niklas Hjalmarsson and Johnny Oduya — did their jobs (even if Michal Rozsival did look asleep out  there at times). The Blackhawks then put up the minimum required goal to win the game, and so they did.

Now if the Blue Jackets would like to ship James Wisniewski  somewhere far, far away, I can actually start to root for them to turn the corner and stop sucking.

Here’s Andrew Shaw‘s goal featuring a no-look pass from Bryan Bickell(!?). That’s the only thing you really need to see.
